Position Summary:

Review contracts to assess risks and recommend revisions to ensure compliance with the Company’s contracting and insurance program, appropriate risk allocation objectives, and with legal and professional standards; provide guidance to Company departments on contracting and administration issues; manage contract management system as requested; manage multiple priorities; and establish priorities based on strategic goals, risk impact, and business rationale.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support legal department with review and analysis of contract terms and conditions to: 1) ensure compliance with Company’s contracting and insurance standards; 2) minimize risk and liability to the Company; 3) achieve operational and financial goals of the Company; and 4) assist in compliance with applicable laws, statutes, and/or regulations.
  • Identify issues requiring business and legal input/review, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Present clear, concise, and analytical executive summaries regarding contract issues and implement established path to finalize contracts.
  • Assist legal and operational units with establishing standards for applicable contracts and with incorporating these standards.
  • Ability to explain complex legal provisions to operational units and to provide guidance to these units to help them account for contract issues in bidding and to effectively and efficiently manage operational contracts.
  • Provide oversight of contracting function and training as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated abilities in contract administration and construction contracting methodologies (Design/bid/build; CM at Risk; design/build, etc.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex legal provisions to operational units and to provide guidance to these units to help them account for contract issues in bidding and to effectively and efficiently manage operational contracts

  • Commitment to act in the best interests of the Company despite internal and/or external pressures
  • Contracting experience in a construction environment
  • Experience with utilizing competitive processes (requests for qualification, requests for proposal, requests for information) and reviewing related contract documents. Knowledge and understanding of various types of insurance coverage (commercial general liability, professional liability, etc.) a plus
  • Exceptional organization skills, strong self-motivator with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills indicative of an ability to interface effectively with attorneys, as well as internal and external customers.
  • Excellent time and deadline management skills in fast-paced environment, able to juggle multiple projects and reprioritize quickly and efficiently.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum five to seven years in contracting, with a strong emphasis on reviewing a wide variety of contracts

Great Project Engineer Opportunity for our Purple Line Project!

 

 

Traylor Underground Project Engineers (PE) direct construction project teams to achieve construction and business goals of the project. The Project Engineer serves as liaison between the client, project manager, subcontractors, and the company to ensure the project advances safely, accurately and efficiently. Project Engineers are the go-to people who make a construction project work. PEs review plans and financial projections for the job to be sure they are accurate and reasonable. PEs create project schedules and work with internal teams, subcontractors, and business partners to ensure the work is done safely, properly, and on time.

 

This position will begin with PE assisting with projects already in progress to learn Traylor Bros., Inc. practices and processes. This position may also assist in developing estimates, projections, schedules and bid documentation for future work. Initial assignment will be at  Traylor’s Purple Line job site located in Maryland, or out of Traylor's office in Alexandria, VA.The ideal candidate for this position is flexible with locality, has a history successfully accomplishing many of the key tasks and responsibilities.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Work with construction managers and superintendents with planning, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, quality control, safety and coordination of subcontractors and internal technical and support staff
  • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling, and performance
  • Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and procedures and ensure all work is done in a manner which enhances the safety of the project
  • Perform engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor problems of a technical nature arising during construction
  • Manage the flow of technical information between Owner, Engineer, and company
  • Assist the project team in building/maintaining project schedules
  • Assist the project superintendent in the coordination of subcontractors

Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction of structures, such as bridges, ports, dams, and underground systems.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.

Position Summary:

Schedule and Resource Management. Communicate critical milestones of project development including: site assess, concept review, interim design, final design, and permitting. This position will be located out of one of our three main offices in Evansville, IN, Long Beach, CA or Alexandria, VA.

Key Task and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and track the development of all design deliverables during both the procurement phase and the project execution phase, ensuring on-time completion, and coordinating all.
  • Manage responses to Requests for Information (RFI’s)
  • Lead all task forces associated with the project and report to the Proposal Manager during the pursuit phase, and the Project Director during the execution phase.
  • Monitor design development against schedule and budget
  • Generate deliverables list and establish required level of pre-bid design, in conjunction with the Lead Estimator and Pursuit Project Manager
  • Generate deliverables list and establish required level of design during project execution with the Construction Manager, Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • Review and approve all design-related questions/clarifications to Owner, in coordination with the Proposal Manager
  • Manage the lead sign firm’s services during procurement and post award and establish a design budget and cost tracking system
  • Ensure constructability of design and compliance with FRP speciation’s
  • Lead/manage the brainstorming and development of Alternative Technical Concepts (ATCs) with task force
  • Determine where independent design checks are required (typically for high risk structures and foundations.)
  • Coordinate the interface between design, estimating and construction operations teams
  • Draft and gain approval for post-bid design scope and fee with Designer
  • Develop post-bid design schedule with Designer, and coordinate/integrate with construction schedule through construction operations staff
  • Assure that the Proposal document includes intent, enhancements and benefits generated in the design process
  • Lead the page-turn of RFP design documents with Proposal Manager, Estimators and Designers.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution and 10 years’ experience in Heavy Civil Construction, with 3 years’ experience in alternative delivery pursuits or projects.
  • Previous management positions or alternative delivery projects in excess of $300 million.

Position Summary:

The primary objective of this role is to prepare cost estimates for large-scale heavy civil construction projects including bridges, dams, and marine structures.

 Key Tasks and Responsibilities:                               

  • Consult with vendors, personnel in other departments or construction superintendents/engineers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
  • Analyze plan documents and other data to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project
  • Design or coordinate design of temporary structures such as shoring, false work, cofferdams, formwork, and templates
  • Review material and labor requirements to determine whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components
  • Establish the likely progress and completion rates, including allowances for bad weather and other unforeseen circumstances
  • Work with the estimating team to produce project schedules
  • Calculate a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads and profit, and presenting a bid price
  • Collaborate with the design team to produce constructible and cost-effective permanent facility plans in pursuit of design-build work
  • Assist with bid closeout and final proposal preparations
  • Assist with writing technical proposals
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management.  Travel as required to attend meetings, site visits, training, etc.

Job Description

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on heavy construction equipment including cranes, dozers, and mining equipment.
  • Perform maintenance using the safest methods possible.
  • Utilize best practices for shop and field maintenance and welding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings as they pertain to components in heavy equipment rebuilding.
  • Complete all maintenance related documentation and reports.
  • Perform tasks in a timely manner.

 Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a field of heavy construction equipment including, mining and/or related industry.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, torque converters, marine gears, gearing and shaft work, under carriage, hydraulic and equipment electrical systems (12VDC to 120VAC).
  • Must be qualified and able to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and with the highest level of attention to detail and quality.
  • Stick & semi-automatic welding experience is preferred.
  • Applicant must be capable of passing an AWS Certified Welding exam in vertical & horizontal weld positions.
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivated and strong work ethic.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when needed.

Position Summary:

This position provides a variety of hands on experience and training needed to become an effective, well-rounded Engineer by exposure to both technical and administrative duties.  Typical responsibilities require applying critical engineering and management thinking and may include:  estimating, design, scheduling, compliance review, procurement, surveying, production tracking, change order preparation, material testing and analysis, and cost report management.  We are seeking professionals who are committed to safety, quality, and productivity.

 

 

Responsibilities May Include:

- Apply critical engineering and management thinking

- Assist in development and implementation of safety plans

- Conduct site audits and material testing and analysis

- Perform inventory checks, daily field engineering tests, and cost analyses

- Complete change order preparations and production tracking

- Assist with drawings (method/field) estimating, scheduling, and surveying

- Support with procurement and quality assurance reviews

- Maintaining files and records, copying, and scanning

- Process charts/graphs, designs, and proposals

- Assume additional responsibilities as directed

 

Skills & Qualifications:

- Candidate must be currently enrolled in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering & Management, or other related program at the time of their internship

- Candidates should possess leadership potential, be problem-solvers, and be able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment

- AutoCAD experience preferred

 

 

This is a full-time internship opportunity of 40+ hours per week assigned to one of our many projects in the United States.
